In the spirit of Father’s Day during Men’s Health Week and in celebration of President Obama’s Fatherhood Initiative, some of us wrote messages to father or our own kid(s) about the impact they have in our lives. All of us seemed to agree on one essential truth: spending quality time with loved ones can have a positive and lasting impact on our health, happiness and well-being.

Active Schools program in late February, she challenged all teachers, parents and school administrators to help bring physical activity back into our children’s schools. When I think back to my childhood years, I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to have grown up in a community that placed such a great emphasis on engaging in regular physical activity. I didn’t know it at the time, but when I was tumbling at the age of 6, I was doing more than just having a good time – I was also creating healthy habits that will benefit my health and well-being for a lifetime.
