Topic:Announcement of the National Foundation on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Board of Directors

The President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (PCFSN) will hold a meeting in the Kennedy Caucus Room of the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, DC on May 10, 2011.

The President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (formerly the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports) will convene to inform and engage Council members on current outreach initiatives and progress towards FY2011 goals. The current status of school-based physical activity and physical education will be a highlight discussion topic in addition to how the PCFSN will address nutrition as part of its expanded mission. The 2010 and 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award winners will also be recognized for their contributions to the advancement and promotion of physical activity, fitness, sports and nutrition. The full agenda will be available at www.fitness.gov prior to the meeting.

Immediately following the Council meeting, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will announce her appointments to the Board of Directors for the National Foundation on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (NFFSN). The creation of the NFFSN was approved by the 111th Congress and signed into law by President Obama on December 22, 2010. Join us for the public announcement of the formation of the NFFSN and appointment of Board members.

All Council meetings are free and open to the public. The meeting minutes will be archived on the PCFSN website at www.fitness.gov.

Parking: There is no designated garage or street parking at the Russell Senate Office Building. We recommend taking metro.

By Metro, Take the Red Line to Union Station: Exit the station going toward Massachusetts Avenue NE. Walk across Columbus Circle to Delaware Avenue NE. Continue walking along Delaware Avenue for two blocks. The Russell Senate Office Building is on the left at the corner of Constitution and Delaware Avenues.
